Cigars, Classic Cars, Beaches, Maya ruins & more

Havana's buildings have sinuous lines, and its colours and spiced aromas are intoxicating. The aroma of the city’s famous cigars floats through the air, beaches of sugary hues smoothly transition into transparent waters of the sea, music accompanies the captivating movements of the Caribbean dances, and cars from a different century create a moving exhibit in the streets of the city centre. One of the world’s great civilizations, Mexico is a great cruise destination with its melange of Mesoamerican cultures, modern indigenous tribes and Spanish traditions; it’s a vibrant modern economy too, the biggest in Latin America after Brazil. A cruise to Belize offers a phenomenal range of experiences: snorkel the longest barrier reef in the Americas; dive the inky depths of the Blue Hole; and embark on thigh-aching treks up soaring Maya pyramids. These destinations are full of Maya ruins, unbelievably beautiful scenery and more for you to explore.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fly UK » Havana
Fly from the UK to Havana, Cuba. On arrival make your way to your 4* hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Havana, Cuba
Join your tour group this evening and get acquainted. Your week-long tour through the "Garden Province" of Cuba will see you walking through the pincushion hills and wandering amongst orchids and lush mountain coffee plantations – this is an opportunity to experience the real Cuba...
Tour a tobacco plantation, snorkel crystal-clear waters full of colourful coral and search for the pirates of lore along the Guanahacabibes Peninsula. Soak up local culture in a homestay for an immersive experience that travellers rarely get to know. Let G Adventures' experienced CEO lead you off the beaten path and discover the cultural treasures of Cuba.

Day 3: Havana/Viñales
Travel to Viñales and spend time exploring the beautiful valley then travel into the Pinar del Rio province to the small town of Vinales, beautifully located in a fertile valley surrounded by the unusual mogotes, or limestone pincushion hills. While you're there, visit a "vega" or cigar factory, to see how the famous Cuban cigars are made.

Havana, Vinales & Maria la Gorda

Day 4: Viñales
Enjoy a free day in the area. Opt^ to go caving, hiking, biking, or just relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the valley.

Day 5: Viñales/Maria la Gorda
Travel to Maria la Gorda, a UNESCO beach town, visiting a cigar factory en route. Opt^ to go on a sunset boat ride, go snorkelling, or relax on the beach.

Day 6: Maria la Gorda
From Maria la Gorda, head out to Cabo San Antonio, a protected area famous for the sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beach. After learning some information about the region, stop by the Roncali lighthouse. Enjoy some free time on the beach too.

Day 7: Maria la Gorda/Las Terrazas
Less than an hour outside of the bustel and hustle of Havana, Las Terrazas is an UNESCO biosphere reserve known for its stunning flora and fauna. Once acres of deforested farmland, today Las Terrazas is a lush oasis after Castro organised thousands of trees be planted. Travel through bamboo groves, past teak and royal palms and keep your eyes peeled for birds and exotic flowers.

Martini Bar, Atrium & Prime C

Day 8: Las Terrazas/Havana
Travel back to Havana, and enjoy a night in the city with the group.

Day 9: Embark the MSC Armonia in Havana
Bid farewell to your group and head to the cruise terminal, where you'll embark MSC Armonia. The ship stays in port until the following evening, meaning you still have even more time to explore the highlights of Havana; or relax on board and start enjoying MSC Armonia's many amenities.

Day 10: Havana, Cuba
You have a full day in Havana to roam free and experience this populous city full of contradictions with over two million inhabitants. One of the must see places to visit is Castillo del Morro: a fortress constructed on a hill in the 16th century that takes its name from one of the Biblical Wise Men.

Day 11: Day at Sea
Grab some drinks in the magnificent Starlight Disco, located in the stern of the ship, or watch a show in MSC Cruises onboard theatre.

Day 12: Belize
A cruise to Belize will show you two of the very best colonial structures carefully restored which are open to visitors; the former city jail, built in Victorian times, now the Museum of Belize, and the even earlier Government House, a museum and cultural center. Belize city is divided neatly into north and south halves by Haulover Creek, a delta branch of the Belize River.

Cozumel & Costa Maya

Day 13: Isla de Roatan, Honduras
Enjoy a dash of local culture and join an island tour, taking in Roatan’s capital, Coxen Hole, and the bustling fishing villages of French Harbour and Little Venice. If you're feeling adventurous, why not go snorkelling and witness the second largest coral reef in the world - Mesoamerican barrier reef?

Day 14: Costa Maya, Mexico
Puerto Costa Maya is out of sight north of Mahahual, but its influence is felt on cruise-ship days, when the village springs to life with souvenir stands and jet-ski rentals along the slick seafront promenade, an extremely miniature version of Playa del Carmen. If you stop for only one ancient site in the Río Bec area, Kohunlich is your best excursion choice.

Day 15: Cozumel, Mexico
If you fancy a museum, the attractive Museo de la Isla de Cozumel has small displays of the flora, fauna and marine life of the island, as well as a good collection of Maya artefacts and old photos. Midway across the island, San Gervasio is the only excavated Maya site on Cozumel, with several small temples connected by sacbeob, or long white roads.

Day 16: Fly Havana » UK
After a hearty breakfast on board, disembark MSC Armonia and make your way to the airport for your overnight flight back to UK.

Day 17: Arrive in UK
