14 November 2019 - 25 nights
Day 1: Fly UK » Barcelona
Fly from the UK to Barcelona, and, on arrival, transfer to your 4* hotel for a 2-night stay.
Day 2: Barcelona
Spain’s second city, and the self-confident capital and port of Catalunya – vibrates with life, and there’s certainly not another city in the country to touch it for sheer style, looks or energy.
Day 3: Embark MSC Seaview
Check out of your 4* hotel and transfer to Barcelona's Cruise Terminal and embark the beautiful MSC Seaview for your 19-night cruise.
Day 4: Ajaccio, Corsica
Ajaccio is a relaxed and good-looking place for a visit to Corsica, with an exceptionally mild climate, and a wealth of smart cafés, restaurants and shops. The core of the old town of Ajaccio – a cluster of ancient streets spreading north and south of place Foch, which opens out to the seafront by the port and the marina – holds the most interest.
Day 5: Genoa, Italy
Explore the old town: a dense and fascinating warren of medieval alleyways home to large palazzi built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by Genoa’s wealthy mercantile families and now transformed into museums and art galleries. Just 35 km south of Genoa, there’s no denying the appeal of Portofino, tucked into a protected inlet surrounded by lush cypress- and olive-clad slopes. It’s an A-list resort that has been attracting high-flying bankers, celebs and their hangers-on for years, as evidenced by the flotillas of giant yachts usually anchored just outside.
Day 6: Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
Some of the must-sees Rome is known for include the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the beautiful Piazza Navona in old Rome and the neighbouring Vatican City State in Rome's modern centre, to name but a few. As one of the world's fashion capitals, the city is also choc-full of superb shopping facilities. Further sights include the magnificent Bernini Column on St. Peter's Square, which is also the site of the Pope's Sunday Angelus.
Day 7: Palermo, Sicily
With Sicily’s greatest concentration of sights, and the biggest historic centre in Italy bar Rome, Palermo is a complex, multilayered port. The best thing to do here is just to wander as the fancy takes you, sifting through Palermo’s jumbled layers of crumbling architecture, along deserted back alleys, then suddenly emerging in the midst of an ebullient street market.
Day 8: Day at Sea
MSC Seaview rewrites the rule book of cruise ship design, blending indoor and outdoor areas to connect you with the sea like never before. Circling the ship as low as Deck 7 is a unique seafront promenade lined with places to eat, drink, shop, swim and sunbathe. And you can enjoy superb views from the two glass-floored catwalks and panoramic elevators.
Day 9: Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Whether you choose to spend your day wandering the streets of the island's capital, or decide to take an excursion enabling you to explore further, Palma offers something for every traveller. Sample a glass or two of the local wine at a tapas bar in Palma's stunning marina, explore the gorgeous gothic cathedral, wander the winding back streets in search of boutique shops.... take a trip out to the incredible Caves of Drach where you could enjoy the notes of classical music tripping across the Lake of Martel - an underground lake; or visit the 'other' Mallorca with a visit to the towns in Mallorca's stunning countryside.
Day 10: Valencia, Spain
In the last decade and a half, the vast, iconic Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias cultural complex has been established, the state-of-the-art metro has continued to expand and dozens of hip new bars, restaurants and boutiques have injected new life into the historic centre. Valencia has also fully redeveloped its beach and port area, as is evident even from your cruise ship.
Day 11: Malaga, Spain
Plaza de la Constitución, Málaga’s main square, hosts a monumental fountain flanked by slender palms and the terraces of numerous cafés and restaurants. Málaga centre has a number of interesting churches and museums, not to mention the birthplace of Picasso and the Museo Picasso Málaga, housing an important collection of works by Málaga’s most famous son.
Day 12: Day at Sea
The unique MSC Seaview Panorama Pool offers breathtaking sea views and sun loungers specially designed to give guests the chance to stay close to the pool like never before creating an immersive connection with water. Or... connected to the top deck by two panoramic lifts, the Sunset Beach Pool offers plenty of space in the sun as well as breathtaking views.
Day 13: Santa Cruz de Tenerife
If the amazing volcanic beaches (or even the man-made ones!) and fantastic shopping options aren't for you then how about taking in the breath-taking view from the highest point in Spain, Mount Teide! Alternatively you could enjoy a fun day out at Siam Park, one of the most spectacular water-parks in Europe.
Day 14-18: Days at Sea
MSC Seaview offers endless fun for the whole family, with two full-sized bowling alleys, a dedicated family restaurant, and the most interactive, multi-storey water park at sea, which prides itself on its five different water slides, including two racing slides with clear loops extending over the side of the ship and a 367-foot water slide with lights and music going down in single and double slide tubes.
And then there's all the fun of two full-sized bowling alleys, where you can challenge friends and family to the last pin!
Day 19: Salvador, Brazil
High above the enormous bay of Todos os Santos (All Saints), where your MSC cruise ship awaits your return, Salvador de Bahia has an electric feel from the moment you arrive. This is the great cultural and historical centre of Brazil, where Afro-Brazilian heritage is strongest and where capoeira, candomblé and samba de roda were created.
Day 20: Ilheus, Brazil
Traditionally Ilhéus has also been popular for its lively city beaches, though given the options now available to the south and north, these need not detain you long. When you step ashore from your MSC cruise you can’t miss the city’s landmark: the Catedral de São Sebastião on Praça Don Eduardo. It looks like a Romanesque wedding cake, with a 48m-high dome, but was actually started in 1931 and only dedicated in 1967. It replaced an older chapel deemed too small for the city and demolished.
Day 21: Day at Sea
On MSC Seaview, you can enjoy the spectacular ocean views while you eat. And with 10 delightful eateries to choose from, including five sophisticated speciality restaurants, dining on MSC Seaview is as varied as it is delicious. Families are superbly catered for. For the perfect pre-dinner aperitif, late night drink or daytime refreshment, there is a choice of 19 smart bars and lounges, each with its own unique atmosphere.
