Day 1: Fly UK » Tokyo, Japan
Fly overnight from the UK to Tokyo.
Day 2: Tokyo, Japan
On arrival in Tokyo, a private transfer will be waiting to take you to the Yokohama port to embark MSC Splendida for a 7 night cruise.
Day 3: Day at Sea
You’ll love the live music and wide variety of bars and restaurants on board. Food choices to explore include authentic Mediterranean specialities and spicy Tex-Mex. Complete the night with a world-class show in The Strand Theatre, a winning streak in the Royal Palm Casino or dancing ‘til dawn in the Club 33 Disco.
Day 4: Sakata, Japan
Sakata is located in Shonai Plain that is known for its high-quality rice. Visit the Honma Museum of Art to witness the Japanese garden that lies adjacent to the art museum, and a grand Edo Period villa that overlooks the garden. Or visit the Sankyo Warehouses that are now a tourist attraction, rather than a complex of rice warehouses.
Day 5: Kanazawa, Japan
On an MSC cruise you will get to know this city, a much appreciated destination also for it handicrafts: the Kaga-Yuzen silk kimonos, Wajima's lacquer-ware and Kutani and Ohi ceramics are all exquisite. At the foot of the castle lies the district of Nagamachi, which you can visit on an excursion: the area preserves a historic atmosphere with its Samurai residences characterised by their "mud walls", private wooden entrance gates, narrow lanes and water canals. Kenrokuen, the green area surrounding the castle, is a real discovery: ranked as one of the "three most beautiful landscaped gardens" in Japan alongside Kairakuen in Mito and Korakuen in Okayama. Its colours change depending on the season. Teambuoco Shima and Kaikaro theatres are the two chaya districts open to the public: these areas once hosted exclusive restaurants whose guests were entertained by Geishas.
Day 6: Busan, Korea
Second to Seoul, Busan is the most populated city in South Korea. On an MSC cruise you will discover the most interesting attractions of this city of three and a half million inhabitants overlooking the Strait of Korea; an economic, cultural and educational reference point for the whole country.
Day 7: Kagoshima, Japan
In the far south of Japan an MSC cruise will help you discover the city of Kagoshima. It is populated by little more than half a million people and enjoys a mild climate for most of the year. The town is dominated by the active volcano Sakurajima and is called the "Naples of Japan" for its similarity to the landscape of the city of Naples. It is not uncommon for the volcano to perform with spectacular eruptions.
Day 8: Day at Sea
For those looking to relax, head to the MSC Aurea Spa where you will find pampering Balinese massages, a range of beauty treatments, a Turkish bath, sauna, whirlpool and solarium. There is also the option to sunbathe in peace on the Top 18 sun deck, located at the top of the ship, where complimentary, refreshing fruit skewers and a thirst-quenching bar menu will keep you cool all day.
Day 9-11: Yokohama, Japan
Disembark MSC Splendida in Yokohama and a private transfer will be waiting to take you to your 4* hotel for a 3 night stay. On its southern borders Tokyo merges with Yokohama, Japan’s second most populous city and a major international port. When you step aground from your MSC cruise you will find that Yokohama feels far more spacious and airy than the capital, thanks to its open harbour frontage and generally low-rise skyline.
Day 12: Fly Tokyo, Japan » UK
Check out of your 4* hotel and a private transfer will take you to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
Day 13: Arrive in the UK
