Seabourn Cruise Line is a luxury cruise line that was established in 1987. It is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and is one of the subsidiaries of the Carnival Corporation, the largest cruise company in the world.
Carnival Corporation & plc
Carnival Corporation is a dual-listed company that was formed in 2003, following the merger between Carnival Corporation and P&O Princess Cruises. Carnival Corporation is registered in Panama and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange. The company has a market capitalisation of approximately $19 billion and operates 105 ships under 10 different brands, including Seabourn Cruise Line.
Seabourn was acquired by Carnival Corporation & plc in 1991. Since then, the luxury cruise line has become a significant part of the Carnival Group portfolio.
Seabourn Cruise Line
Seabourn Cruise Line operates five ships and two expedition ships, which offer luxury cruises to various destinations around the world. The ships are Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn, Seabourn Quest, Seabourn Encore, and Seabourn Ovation. The expedition ships are Seabourn Pursuit and Seabourn Venture.
The cruise line has won numerous awards for its exceptional service, dining, and accommodations. It is consistently recognised as one of the best luxury cruise lines in the world. In 2017, Seabourn was named the “Best Small-Ship Cruise Line” by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine.
Despite being a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & plc, Seabourn Cruise Line operates independently and has its own management team. The company’s president is Richard Meadows, who has been with Seabourn since 2011. Meadows has extensive experience in the cruise industry and has previously worked for Holland America Line and Cunard Line, both of which are also subsidiaries of Carnival Corporation & plc.
Seabourn is committed to sustainability and implements various initiatives to reduce environmental impact. The company has invested in advanced wastewater treatment systems, which treat the waste water produced on board the ships to a higher standard than required by international regulations. Seabourn has also reduced its use of single-use plastics and has implemented energy-efficient measures on board the ships.
