Make Your Caribbean Escape On Arvia

Soak up the Caribbean sunshine aboard P&O Cruises‘ new star, Arvia. With a host of exciting itineraries and eight magical islands to explore, it’s time to plan your winter 2022/23 escape

For her winter 2022 season, Arvia heads to the Caribbean for an adventure like no other. With her retractable SkyDome and bright, light spaces, she’s designed to make the sea the star and let the sunshine in – think swim-up bars, infinity pools, al fresco chill-outs and gazing upon sparkling shores with a cool spritzer in hand… In short, she’s the perfect ship to explore the wonders of the region.
Arvia’s Caribbean itineraries have been created with care to let you explore eight of the region’s most idyllic islands: Antigua, Barbados, Curaçao, Dominican Republic (a maiden call), Martinique, St Kitts, St Lucia and St Maarten. Each has its own personality and charm, with a wealth of activities and attractions to choose from. If you can tear yourself away from the extraordinary beaches, you’ll find unique cultural and historic attractions,
and enchanting interior landscapes. Hike rainforest trails, explore underground caves, discover artisan chocolate and rum; feast on fresh catches; admire historic architecture, snorkel in rainbow reefs, take a wild helicopter ride or simply lose yourself on a pristine white beach to the sounds of lapping waves and lilting music.

There’s flexibility to explore the region your way. Arvia cruises range from seven to 22 nights so you can get a true taster of the Caribbean good life or take more time to immerse yourself in the beautiful region. Whether you join a positioning cruise departing from Southampton or opt for a fly-cruise to either Barbados or Antigua (new for winter 22/23), you’ll swap the cold and grey of a British winter for the warmth and blue skies of the Caribbean.

Immerse yourself in the glories of the Caribbean. From admiring endless views on board to big adventures on shore, Arvia takes you to heart of the region with eight fabulous islands to explore.

Enchanting Antigua
At just 23km long and 18km wide, Antigua might be small, but it packs a hefty punch with its beaches (all 365 of them), vibrant coral reefs, historical forts, fun-loving locals and tasty barbecue joints.

Big-hearted Barbados
This welcoming island offers a unique mix of pristine glamour and rugged natural beauty. Laidback, welcoming and a little bit British (check out the place names for starters), it’s got everything you’d hope for in a Caribbean island and so much more.
With an overnight stop, you’ll get the chance to immerse yourself in Bajan nightlife. Go glam with crafted cocktails and fine dining followed by a ritzy celeb-studded club at trendy St Lawrence Gap. Or take it easy with craft beer and an outdoor fish fry before dancing barefoot on the beach till dawn. Choose your night and make it your own.

Colourful Curaçao
Cosmopolitan Curaçao is a melting pot of cultures, where up to 50 nationalities merge, Caribbean style. Add in lush forests, white-sand bays and a desert studded with giant cacti, and this treasure island has adventures aplenty.
The island’s beating heart is UNESCO-protected Willemstad with its iconic colourful waterfront.
Hike the trails along the dramatic northern coastline and, with luck, spot turtles in their nesting grounds.

Dazzling Dominican Republic
Landing at La Romana, you’ve easy access to the DR good life. The surrounding area is a haven for beach lovers, golfers and divers. Playa La Minitas boasts crystal waters, white sands fringed with palms and chic beachside restaurants and cocktail bars. Around Bayahibe, you’ll find idyllic beaches and easy escapes to Saona Island (with mangrove forests, turtle sanctuaries and white-sand beaches) and scuba mecca, Catalina Island.
Wherever you go, enjoy the sweet sounds of merengue, rum tipples and fabulous fresh seafood.

Magnifique Martinique
A French outpost since 1635, Martinique is a bustling, beautiful blend of cultures. On one side la belle France, complete with boulangeries, pétanque and haute cuisine; on the other the Caribbean with its coconuts, Creole rhythms and, of course, rum.

Leisurely St Kitts
Glorious beaches, charming villages, historic sites and an easy-going outlook – St Kitts and sister island Nevis have got the lot. The clear waters of this Caribbean nation are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and watersports (the sea temperature rarely dips below 26°C) but there’s so much more to these friendly isles.
Why not make Mount Liamuiga your mission?
At 1,156m, it’s the highest point on St Kitts with cracking views over the entire British Leeward Islands. Or take it easy with a boat trip and a lazy day on Nevis. Here, you’ll find secluded beaches, lush landscapes, a forested mountain interior and a sense of unadulterated relaxation.

Lively St Lucia
One of the Caribbean’s most photographed islands, St Lucia wows in every direction. In the upscale north, calm beaches and home comforts abound. In the south, the island’s famous volcanic peaks, the Pitons, tower over colourful towns, protected rainforests and stunning waterfalls.
It’s also the home of Gros Islet’s famous Friday night street-food market. If you time it right, join in the raucous open-air celebration, feast on barbecued chicken and fish washed down with a Piton beer and sway to the rhythm of reggae pumped from giant speakers.

Multi-faceted St Maarten
Two names, two cultures, one magical island… Whether you call it Sint Maarten or Saint Martin depends on where you are. Divided by colonial powers in 1648, the south (Sint Maarten) is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands side while the north (Saint Martin) is a French territory. Wherever you find yourself, there’s plenty to see and do.
