Sky Princess #Staycation – 22-28 Sept 2021 – Sailing Solo

As part of CLIA Cruise week I am lucky enough to be invited on board Sky Princess for 6 nights to experience the ship, the itinerary has 2 Ports Greenock (Glasgow) and Belfast.

Holding  there are 1492 passengers on board currently with the ship holding 3660 at maximum capacity it is less than 50% full.

How’s it going so far:

Embarkation Day, this my 6th Staycation cruise this year and to say I am really impressed is an understatement, I timed from getting off the train in Southampton to getting into my balcony cabin and this was 53min 53 secs!! This included taxi, luggage drop off , a Covid Test at the Terminal/Waiting for Negative result, check in and clearing security, this is the fastest of all the cruises I have been on. Well done Princess cruises.

Day 1 Onboard

After the usual look around the ship, and a Travel Agent Meet n Greet with Princess Sales Team I headed for an evening of exploration, the ships seems nice filled

, the atmosphere is a very chilled vibe, and most people are complying with the masking wearing policy.

There are plenty of bars onboard and getting a seat so far hasn’t been an issue, the Premium Drinks Package part of Princess Plus has been well used, and the drinks variety is fantastic lots of Premium Spirit included up to you $12 per drink, including Aviation / Bombay & Hendrick Gins all included. If you order a drink outside of this they tell you and surprisingly you just pay the difference.

Dinner was in the Main Dining Room and having not booked a time we walked in quite late and we’re seated straight away, the food was fantastic, I had Garlic Prawns as a starter folled my Red Fish, both we’re amazing, service was brilliant friendly and fun waiters.

After this we headed to the Vista Lounge (Night Club) and there was Live Music and I must say they we’re pretty good, getting people up dancing, yes dancing is allowed on board finally followed by a DJ to end the night. All in all first impressions of the ship, I like it and think the hubby would to.

Day 2 Sea Day

Wow it’s end of September and the Sun is shining, the Pool area is busy, but not too busy that after a little walk around you can find somewhere to sit and relax/chill and catch some last minute sun.

We tried the Dirty Banana Cocktail after lots of recommendations from you our clients, now I’m going to be honest it was ok, but not as good as a Kracken Colada, I wonder if they will make one?? Note to self ask….

Before getting ready for tonight which is formal night, I went to the gym and had a workout, I’m determined not put on too much weight, but still enjoy myself. Normally on a cruise I look in the gym take a pic then not go back….

After getting ready for Formal Night (Dress to Impress) I met up with some friends and we had a glass of champers as you do on a formal night and then headed for Dinner in the main restaurant, again we hadn’t reserved and we’re seated quickly, tonight’s menu I chose the Fruits Salad (I know as a Starter!) which was absolutely beautiful followed by the Duck A’la Orange, wow beautifully presented and cooked perfectly, I did choose the Premium recommend Wine Pairing, this cost me $1.18 as it was outside the package, but well worth it.

Tonight’s show in the Main Theatre was Rock Opera, think Queen and many more other songs that you’ll know and sing along too, it was fantastic, amazing Singers and Dancers and great costumes with a Live Orchestra. Mask wearing is mandatory in theatre, unless sipping your drinks, but they request you put your mask back on when not drinking. The theatre was pretty full and unlike other cruises where there is rows in between and seats blocked off this wasn’t the case. I think because everyone is wearing masks this allows them to do this safely.

Our last port of call this evening was Vista Lounge for late night aperitif or two with the DJ playing requests and some great music, at 2am I thought it’s time to retire as we are in Scotland tomorrow, the Port of Greenock (Glasgow) and I can get off, need some beauty sleep.

Keep an eye out for our next blog about our stop in Glasgow (Greenock coming son), if you’d like to keep up to date with us on our journey, follow us on Facebook & Instagram, where we post lots of info, live videos and you can interact with us. Until our next update bye for now.
