We’ve all heard it said that not all treasure is silver and gold, but guests will soon discover for themselves the true jewels of the West Indies when they join recently launched Golden Horizon. As one of the most hotly anticipated ship that launched this year, she has even come under the spotlight of celebrities such as Hayley Atwell who was seen enjoying herself aboard!
Sugar-soft sand beaches and fishing boats bobbing on powder-blue waters… life by the ocean is pretty perfect in the Caribbean. The new Caribbean sailings, which are now on sale, will start from flamboyant Bridgetown, capital of Barbados and home of a unique colonial garrison that has achieved UNESCO World Heritage status.
Golden Horizon will then follow the tide (and sun!) to iconic islands such as Saint Lucia and Antigua, as well as way off the beaten track hidden gems such as Bequia and Îles de Saintes in Guadeloupe. There are a total of 21 departures on offer from 11 November 2021 to 31 March 2022, all of which are roundtrips from Barbados, so there’ll be plenty of opportunities to completely indulge in all the delights of a balmy paradise.
Each voyage is 7 nights duration, including all meals and soft drinks. Plus, guests can travel in peace because of Tradewind Voyages’ Safe Sailing protocols which requires pre boarding (complimentary) antigen testing, and has a fully vaccinated COVID policy.
To make your escape to the Caribbean even more unique, guests will also be doing their bit to protect their natural surroundings as Golden Horizon, the largest square-rigged sailing ship in the world, is powered by nature, using the wind and currents as much as possible. Tradewind Voyages intend to sail, without using propulsion, for around 70% of each season. In fact, the cruise line has just been featured on BBC News – The Travel Show, The Future of Sustainable Travel.
Boasting five bars, impressive spa and fitness facilities (plus a marina for water sports), three pools, a spectacular dining room with central skylight for top-notch cuisine, and a high staff-to-guest ratio means that first-class service is guaranteed for everyone travelling on Golden Horizon. Its 140 cabins all offer ocean views so you won’t miss any of that stunning scenery even when relaxing in your own space.
Commenting on the launch, CEO Tradewind Voyages, Alan McGrory said:
We are thrilled to offer our guests the opportunity to experience the smaller ports of call and to visit so many beautiful destinations in the Caribbean. We’re also delighted to open up sales to travellers from North America for the first time, thanks to the appointment of Discover the World as our GSA. Once again, we thank our agent partners and their clients for their support and hope that our Safe Sailing policy will instil further confidence in booking with us. We look forward to welcoming everyone on board.
Rich history and culture is everywhere in the Caribbean, and not just the swashbuckling variety. Get your fix of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, crumbling plantations and forts perched on rocky headlands with astounding views. Enjoy tastings in the world’s oldest rum distillery in Barbados; explore parrot-filled botanical gardens in St Vincent; and dip under the waves to see an underwater sculpture park in Grenada.
The boutiques, art galleries, and cafe scene will capture your heart and the beach-side shacks serving up freshly-grilled seafood will please your stomach. The complimentary BBQ Beach Day is a luxury that’s also not to be missed, and will give you a chance to sample plenty of local flavours. Combine coastal chill-out sessions with waterfall hikes, world-class diving, and dips in bubbling mud baths, and you’ll never forget a single moment with Tradewind Voyages in the Caribbean.
